Molybdenum

Molybdenum/Nutrient Depletion:

  • ArginineArginine: In animals, arginine was reported to decrease concentrations of molybdenum in the femur of rats (187).
  • CopperCopper: In animals and humans, molybdenum and its constituents have been reported to alter copper levels with or without the addition of sulfur (137; 138; 139; 140; 101; 141; 142; 65; 143; 144; 145; 146; 147; 104; 148; 10; 149; 150; 151; 25; 24; 22; 175; 155). Adequate supplementation with copper may help prevent alterations in copper levels or decrease molybdenum levels, depending on the dose administered (140; 101; 104; 144; 150; 147; 143; 191; 213; 154; 170; 214). Copper sulfate administration was reported to decrease the solubility of molybdenum and copper in the rumen of sheep (215).
  • GermaniumGermanium: In animals, germanium has been reported to decrease molybdenum in the femur of rats (193).
  • MagnesiumMagnesium: In animals, molybdenosis resulted in a decrease of magnesium in the serum and organs (100).
  • MethionineMethionine: In animals, the administration of molybdenum with sulfur decreased the production of methionine by microorganisms in the rumen (202).
  • PhosphorusPhosphorus: In animals, molybdenosis resulted in a decrease of phosphorus in the serum and organs (100).
  • SulfurSulfur: In animals, plasma molybdenum was reported to be decreased by sulfur supplementation in sheep (152).
