Mushroom Gravy

A rich brown gravy without the saturated fat

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon canola or olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped fine
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 pound fresh mushrooms of choice, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Arrowroot
  • 1 1/2 cup water or Vegetable Stock
  • 2 tablespoon Tamari
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and saute about 2 minutes, then add the mushrooms. Continue to saute until the mushrooms are softened, about 5 minutes. Dissolve Arrowroot in water or stock and add to the mushroom mixture. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Add Tamari and pepper and continue to stir another minute. Serve immediately.
