Uses
- It is used to treat cyanide poisoning.
- Sodium nitrate, sodium thiosulfate, and amyl nitrate gets rid of cyanide from the body.
Dosing
How to take
- Amyl nitrite:
- Do not take this drug by mouth. Use in your nose only. Keep out of your mouth and eyes (may burn).
- Sit or lie down before use.
- Crush vial between your fingers. Do not take off the covering.
- Hold under your nose for 15 to 30 seconds to breathe in vapor.
- Sodium nitrite and sodium thiosulfate:
- It is given as a shot into a vein over a period of time.
