Uses

It is used to treat anemia.
Iron is most often taken during pregnancy to stop anemia.
Iron plays a major role in taking oxygen and moving it to where it is needed in the body. Iron is taken into the red blood cells and made into hemoglobin. Hemoglobin carries the oxygen around in the body.
Low iron stores may be caused by a diet lacking in iron, little iron getting in from the small bowel, pregnancy, breast-feeding, or blood loss.

Dosing

How to take
Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach.
Take 1 hour before or 2 hours after bran, fiber, tea, coffee, dairy products, or eggs.
Long-acting products: Swallow whole. Do not chew, break, or crush.
Follow the diet plan that your doctor told you about.
