Aconite

Aconite/Drug Interactions:

  • AntiarrhythmicsAntiarrhythmics: Based on limited human research, antiarrhythmic agents may antagonize the effects of aconite and increase the risk of cardiotoxicity (54).
  • AntidiabeticsAntidiabetics: Aconite may lower blood sugar levels, based on limited human research (15; 11).
  • AntihypertensivesAntihypertensives: Theoretically, concomitant use of aconitine with an antihypertensive agent may result in additive effects due to aconitine's hypotensive effects (12; 37; 25; 14; 13).
  • AnestheticsAnesthetics: Theoretically, concomitant use of aconitine with an anesthetic agent may result in an increased hypotensive effect.
  • DigoxinDigoxin: Theoretically, digoxin may interfere with aconitine effects on cardiac tissue producing an unknown pharmacological effect. The manifestations of digitalis and aconite poisoning are very similar and thus simultaneous use of these agents could be extremely dangerous and result in additive effects of both agents.
  • DiureticsDiuretics: Theoretically, concomitant use of aconitine with a diuretic agent may result in difficulty with diuresis and hypertension may result.
  • Aconite/Herb/Supplement Interactions:

  • AnestheticsAnesthetics: Theoretically, concomitant use of aconite with an anesthetic herb or supplement may result in an increased hypotensive effect.
  • AntihypertensivesAntihypertensives: Aconite may cause additional hypotensive effects (12; 37; 25; 14; 13).
  • Digoxin-like herbs/supplements (foxglove, Siberian ginseng)Digoxin-like herbs/supplements (foxglove, Siberian ginseng): Theoretically, digoxin-like herbs or supplements may interfere with aconite effects on cardiac tissue producing an unknown and potentially dangerous effect.
  • DiureticsDiuretics: Theoretically, concomitant use of aconite with diuretic herb or supplement may result in difficulty with diuresis and hypertension may results.
  • HypoglycemicsHypoglycemics: Aconite may lower blood sugar levels, based on limited human research (15; 11).
  • Aconite/Food Interactions:

  • Insufficient available evidence.
  • Aconite/Lab Interactions:

  • Serum glucoseSerum glucose: Aconite may lower blood sugar levels, based on limited human research (15; 11).
