Gamma oryzanol/Drug Interactions:

  • AnticoagulantsAnticoagulants: According to an animal study, oryzanol and a high cholesterol diet (1% cholesterol) may inhibit platelet aggregation induced by ADP and may totally inhibited aggregation induced by collagen; however, a control diet did not seem alter platelet aggregation (23).
  • AntihyperglycemicsAntihyperglycemics: According to an animal study, gamma oryzanol may increase insulin sensitivity in diabetics (26).
  • Central nervous system suppressantsCentral nervous system suppressants: In pharmacological tests, cycloartenol ferulic acid ester, a component of gamma oryzanol, may have a suppressant effect on the central nervous system; its properties seemed different from those of existing major and minor tranquilizers (24).
