Uses
- It is used to lower high phosphate levels.
- It is used to treat heartburn and upset stomach.
- Antacids lower stomach acid.
- Aluminum binds phosphate in the GI (gastrointestinal) tract and gets rid of it.
Dosing
How to take
- Take 1 to 3 hours after meals as an antacid.
- There is a liquid (suspension) if you cannot swallow pills. Shake well before use.
- Those who have feeding tubes may also use the liquid. Flush the feeding tube before and after this drug is given.
- Drink lots of noncaffeine liquids unless told to drink less liquid by your doctor.
