Uses
- It is used to treat asthma. It may take 2 to 6 weeks to see the full effect.
- It is used to treat Crohn's disease. It may take 2 months to see the full effect.
- Budesonide stops or lowers irritation and swelling.
- It lowers or stops the body's reaction to the allergen.
- It lowers the body's harmful response to diseases of the immune system.
Dosing
How to take
- Puffer (inhaler):
- For breathing in only.
- Prime puffer (inhaler) before first use by twisting brown grip as far as it will go both ways. Then repeat twisting.
- Have your puffer (inhaler) use checked with your doctor at each visit. Read and follow facts on how to use the puffer. Make sure you use the puffer the right way.
- Do not use a spacer with the puffer (inhaler).
- Rinse out mouth after each use.
- If you are using a puffer (inhaler), wait 10 minutes before using this drug.
- Oral capsule:
- Take in the morning if taking once a day.
- Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach.
- Swallow capsule whole. Do not chew, break, or crush.
- Liquid for breathing in:
- For breathing in only as a liquid (solution) by a special machine (nebulizer) into the lungs.
- Follow how to use as you have been told by your doctor or read the package insert.
- Do not mix other drugs in nebulizer.
- Shake well before use.
- Rinse out mouth after each use.
- Wash face if using a face mask.
- If you are using a puffer (inhaler), wait 10 minutes before using this drug.
