Uses
- It is used to stop coughing.
- It is used to ease pain.
- Codeine lowers the feeling of pain and how one reacts to pain.
- It works on the cough center in the brain.
Dosing
How to take
- Do not take this drug with other strong pain drugs or if you are using a pain patch without talking to your doctor first.
- Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach.
- There is a liquid (solution) if you cannot swallow pills.
- Those who have feeding tubes may also use the liquid. Flush the feeding tube before and after this drug is given.
- Drink lots of noncaffeine liquids unless told to drink less liquid by your doctor.
- Keep a pain diary.
