Uses
- It is used to treat Alzheimer's disease.
- It is used to treat dementia.
- Memantine lowers a chemical called glutamate in the brain. Too much glutamate may lead to a loss in memory, attention, and learning with Alzheimer's disease.
Dosing
How to take
- Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach.
- There is a liquid (solution) if you cannot swallow pills.
- Those who have feeding tubes may also use the liquid. Flush the feeding tube before and after this drug is given.
