Uses
- It is used to treat very hard stools (constipation) caused by some drugs.
- Methylnaltrexone helps the stomach get rid of food and move the food out the GI (gastrointestinal) tract.
Dosing
How to take
- It is given as a shot into the fatty part of the skin.
- Your doctor may teach you how to give the shot.
- Wash your hands before and after use.
- Move the site where you give the shot with each shot.
- Throw away needles in a needle/sharp disposal box and take the box back to your doctor when it is full.
- If you stop taking your pain drugs, talk with your doctor before taking this drug.
