Uses

It is used to stop or treat chest pain or pressure.
It is used to help a weak heart.
It is used to treat anal pain.
Nitroglycerin calms blood vessels.
It calms rectal and anal muscles.

Dosing

How to take
Sublingual (under the tongue):
Sit down before use.
Sublingual tablet: Place under your tongue and let melt.
Wait 5 minutes. If chest pain or pressure is still present, call the ER (emergency department) or get a ride to the hospital. Do not drive yourself.
Spray:
Spray on or under tongue.
Avoid swallowing after use.
Avoid rinsing mouth for 5 to 10 minutes after use.

Nitrolingual?:
Prime pump by spraying it 5 times.
If not used in 6 weeks prime pump by spraying it 1 time.
NitroMistT:
Prime pump by spraying it 10 times.
If not used in 6 weeks prime pump by spraying it 2 times.
Oral:
Take oral products on an empty stomach. Take 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.
Long-acting products: Swallow whole. Do not chew, break, or crush.
Take with a full glass of water.
Skin: Ointment (topical):
Wash your hands before and after use.
Use the applicator or dose-measuring paper to spread in a thin layer over a 2x3 inch part. Put on your chest or back.
Rectal:
Cover your finger with plastic-wrap, a surgical glove, or a finger cot.
Use the dosing guide on the box to put the ointment on your covered finger.
Place the finger with the ointment on it into the anal canal up to the first finger joint.
Smear the ointment inside the anus.
You may also put the ointment on the outside of your anus.
Wash your hands after use.
Patch:
Follow how to use as you have been told by your doctor or read the package insert.
Put patch on at the same time of day.
Put patch on a site without hair.
Shot:
It is given as a shot into a vein over a period of time.
