Uses
- It is used to stop or treat GI (gastrointestinal) ulcers caused by infection.
- It is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease.
- It is used to treat heartburn and sour stomach.
- It is used to treat syndromes caused by lots of stomach acid.
- Famotidine helps avoid harm to the GI (gastrointestinal) tract caused by stomach acid or infection.
Dosing
How to take
- Take at bedtime if you are taking once a day.
- Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach.
- Liquid:
- Shake well before use.
- Those who have feeding tubes may also use the liquid. Flush the feeding tube before and after this drug is given.
- Shot:
- It is given as a shot into a vein.
