Indian bael/Drug Interactions:
Antihyperglycemic agentsAntihyperglycemic agents: Animal studies show that in the absence of diabetes, Indian bael, as extracts of the leaves or seeds, decrease the concentration of glucose in blood or serum for several hours after a single oral dose, which theoretically may result in an additive effect with administration of another hypoglycemic agent (7; 8). Thyroid agentsThyroid agents: Animal studies show that after 15 days of ingestion of Indian bael, as an extract of leaves, there were changes in the concentrations of T-4 and T-3 in serum, such that the increase in T-4 and decrease in T-3 theoretically may complicate concurrent administration of a thyroid hormone or antithyroid drug (9).
