Ladies mantle

Ladies mantle/Drug Interactions:

  • Anti-coagulation medications (warfarin, heparin)Anti-coagulation medications (warfarin, heparin): Theoretically, ladies mantle should be avoided in patients using anti-coagulation therapy. Ladies mantle may decrease the efficacy of these medications due to its proposed coagulation effects.

  • Anti-coagulation agentsAnti-coagulation agents: Theoretically, ladies mantle should be avoided in patients taking anti-coagulation herbs or supplements. Ladies mantle may decrease the efficacy of these agents due to its proposed coagulation effects.
  • Iron supplementsIron supplements: Ladies mantle contains tannins, which may reduce the absorption of iron supplements (3).
  • QuercetinQuercetin: Ladies mantle has been shown to have a weak mutagenic effect on bacteria and it is proposed that the constituent quercetin is the cause of the mutagenic activity (4;5).
  • Ladies mantle/Food Interactions:

  • IronIron: Ladies mantle contains tannins, which may reduce the absorption of iron (3).
  • Ladies mantle/Lab Interactions:

  • INR/PTTINR/PTT: Theoretically, ladies mantle may alter the results of these tests due to its coagulation effects.
  • Serum ferritin/Serum iron/Total iron binding capacity (TIBC)/RDWSerum ferritin/Serum iron/Total iron binding capacity (TIBC)/RDW: Ladies mantle may contain tannins, which may theoretically reduce the absorption of iron (3).
