Renin Inhibitors
Antihypertensives/Nutrient Depletion:
Coenzyme Q10Coenzyme Q10: According to anecdotal reports, clonidine, hydralazine, and methyldopa may reduce CoQ10 concentrations.
MelatoninMelatonin: Based on evidence from human and animal studies, medications that reduce levels of vitamin B6 in the body (such as hydralazine) may also deplete melatonin levels (8872867, 11349394, 1806289, 272672).
Vitamin B6/pyridoxineVitamin B6/pyridoxine: Based on human case reports, hydralazine (Apresoline?) may increase pyridoxine requirements (5847557). The need for pyridoxine supplementation has not been adequately studied.
Zinc:Zinc: Captopril and valsartan have reduced serum zinc levels in rabbits, but not in humans (19198707). This reduction, however, may not be clinically relevant.
